TRADITION WITH A TWIST – Take 2

We love repeat clients. This DC project was years in the making. Our clients spent 2 years abroad and began the transformation of their home about a year before their return. Did I mention it was all during Covid? We finished up the last phase of the project this past year and the result is a classic home that is chock full of elegant comfort.

PROJECT

This was a full first floor plus primary suite redesign where no square footage was added but every inch was designed with the utmost attention. Our clients subscribe to our “do it once and do it right” approach. They waited almost a decade to do this project and they weren’t going to compromise on quality anywhere. We had tackled furnishing several of the spaces over the years and we were able to repurpose just about everything in the 2.0 version of this beautiful home.

The kitchen is by far our prettiest version to date. We cycled through a dozen “light blues w a hint of green” to land on the perfect cabinet color. Our clients cook nearly every night and everything in this space gets used and needed to be planned for. The Lacanche stove is both work horse and show stopper.

At AHR Designs we love pattern play and there’s not a room in this house where that is not on display. Can you spot all the block printed fabrics? Wallpaper is also a shared love. The powder room has hand painted walls that mimic a wallpaper the client loved that wasn’t able to be scaled for the small space. Our clients have been slowly growing their art collection with purchases from their travels, auctions and various online galleries. The final styling day was a breeze as they own so many heartfelt collections.

Clients who value design and quality and have patience to see it come together don’t come around so often. I am so thrilled these clients trusted us over the years to bring this project to the finish line.
